The front side of a bag is used to attract the eye. Regulatory information is often on the back or side. To compare correctly two foods, one must distinguish composition, analytical components, additives, energy density and ration advice.
- The first reference is "full food".
- A list of ingredients alone does not measure the final quality.
- The rates should be interpreted with the moisture and energy of the product.
- Daily ration and cost per day are more meaningful than the price of the bag.
1 Composition and Constituents: Two Different Things
The composition lists the raw materials used, usually in order of weight before manufacture. Analytical constituents have categories measured in the finished product: raw proteins, fats, raw fibres and minerals, sometimes moisture.
The term "crude ash" refers to the mineral matter remaining after an analytical method; this does not mean that ash has been added to the recipe. This figure is interpreted throughout the formulation.
2. Look beyond one percentage
A high percentage of proteins do not say everything about their origin, digestibility or amino acid balance. Similarly, "without cereals", "natural" or "premium" does not replace the evidence of an appropriate formulation.
A comparison of the same type of food for the same life stage is preferred. For a technical comparison between dry and wet, the dry matter and the energy intake must be taken into account.
3 The questions to be asked about the mark
Who formulates the recipes? What controls are carried out on raw materials and finished product? Does the food follow recognized nutritional recommendations? Can the brand provide energy density and a competent consumer service?
A transparent company must be able to explain its approach without reducing the quality to a star ingredient. The product also considers its regularity, safety and ability to meet needs.
We give you clear, straightforward answers.
What does "full food" mean?+
This means that the food is designed to cover, when given according to the recommendations, the daily needs of the profile indicated.
Are the raw ashes dangerous?+
The term refers to an analytical measure of mineral matter, and does not in isolation make it possible to conclude on the quality or safety of the product.
Information content based on recognized references. It does not replace a diagnosis or veterinary prescription.
